Working Together Wednesday: That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino

Happy Hump Day!!! Well I guess it’s almost over now, but it is still technically Wednesday for 3/4’s of the country 🙂

I’m super excited for you all to meet my friend Melissa DeMartino from That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino. So let’s jump right in, shall we???

Tell Us About Yourself.

My name is Melissa, most people call me Mel. I have two amazing boys and am married to my high school sweetheart. I am a full-time mom and business owner.

What is your business???

I have a public FB page called, That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino. I sell Legging Army leggings. Our leggings are super soft and extremely comfortable. They are boutique quality leggings at an affordable price point.

What is 1 lesson you have learned while in this business or cause?

I have only been with the company for a few short months. The biggest thing I have learned is that everyone is beautiful. Size is just a number!!! You can be comfy and confident at the same time. I love that I can help  a wide range of people feel confident while wearing leggings.

What is the best advice you have ever received while in this business or cause?

Sales aren’t going to happen in one day…sure you might make a few. But in order to make your business flourish you have to work it! Spend at least 20 mins a day doing something productive for your business.

What is your best advice on life in general?

The best advice I can give is to slow down!!! Life is always so fast paced that we often forget to slow down and appreciate the people and things that fill our lives. We don’t always have to feel so rushed. Slow down and see what you’ve been missing out on.

Let’s get social. Where can we find you on the net?

You can find me on FB at: That Legging Craze

Thank You, Melissa.

So, WHO exactly is WTW for, you may ask??? It is for anyone who has a blog, brand, business, or cause that is not nationally known. How is this determined??? Well, if you think you may NOT qualify, send me an email and I’ll look over it and see, but most everyone who isn’t a national chain will be good. 😉  If you you are in direct sales or network marketing, we want to hear your story here too. Are you a creative that makes and sells stuff??? Click the link and fill it out. I want 2017 to be the year of MORE for everyone. Working Together Wednesday: Kettlebell Burn

Working (2)

Happy Wednesday!!! On today’s Working Together Wednesday, we talk to Justin Cox, from Kettlebell Burn. Justin is an amazing man with a true passion for helping women get into shape, and I have had the pleasure of working with Justin and I must say, I so glad I did. His passion truly shines through in what he does.

Ready to learn more about Kettlebell Burn and Justin??? Here we go!!!

1. Give us a quick intro of you and your family.

Hey! Thanks for interviewing me. I really appreciate it. My name is Justin Cox, and I own Kettlebell Burn. I have a beautiful daughter who is 7 years old. And in true princess fashion will be turning 29 this fall. She is my world, and also the reason I train.

Let’s see, my background. Hmm. Well I grew up as an athlete. I was a competitive athlete from the age of 5 until 25 when my daughter was born. So I have always been in the fitness world. When I got to college and discovered that I could make a career out of being in fitness, there was no turning back. I immediately became a personal trainer, and completed got my degree in Exercise Science.

After college I decided to continue to grow my personal training business and soon opened up my own studio. I was an in person personal trainer for over 10 years before I decided to move my business online. That is where I developed a deep understanding of working with women. I know it sounds cliche. Everyone in the fitness world says they work with moms. But it turns out that the market for athletes, my original specialty, in rural northern MN is pretty slim. So I spent 10 years working with, and getting to know on a deep level, how to work with women.

What motivates them. What their true fears are. What they really want to achieve. All of that combined with my unique lifestyle / habit based coaching is what I bring to the online world.

That pretty much brings us up to today.

2. What is your business/blog?
My website is KBBURN.com

That is my center of operations and where I do all of my coaching from. I am going to warn you though, if you go to that website, you won’t find a lot. I spend most of my time working with my members rather than writing a ton of blog content. In fact, I don’t think I even have a current blog post active on the menu.

3. What is your best piece of advice?
I love this question. Because it is never what people think it is. My best advice is to start easy.

Everyone always thinks it will be something about kettlebells, or some diet tip. In reality, the biggest problem I see when women get started with a new transformation program is that they fall into the trap of feeling they need to be extreme. But you can’t blame them either. With the popularity of the Beach Body workouts (P90X, Insanity, Hard Corps, etc..) and CrossFit, we as a culture have this thing right now about being extreme when it comes to fitness.

We want to start an extreme workout everyday, we want to completely overhaul our diets, we want to go 100 miles per hour in this direction and then that direction. What ends up happening is that the stress of it all quickly overwhelms us and we end up dropping the program withing a few short weeks. It is far and few between the people who have success stories from doing it that way.

In reality, what moms need to do is lighten up on themselves, accept that it won’t happen in 12 weeks, even though all the magazines and ads keep saying it will, and start with something easy. Start with something easy that allows them to get some initial success which will then begin to snowball and have huge effects over time. But by doing it this way, they wont feel overwhelmed in the process and will be able to keep rocking the whole time.

For example, one of my foundation habits: Getting 8 hours of sleep, drinking half your bodyweight in ounces of water everyday, and taking your multivitamins/fish oil everyday. Those are 3 great and easy places to start. Start with one of those and then progress into harder things like working out everyday.

Working Together Wednesday: Calling All Bloggers, Brands, and Causes

Working (2)

Calling all Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes:

It’s been a while since I’ve featured someone on Working Together Wednesday, and that seems to have been a very popular feature on the blog. I’m looking to start this back up and I’d love to have several weeks worth of these scheduled throughout the summer and beginning of the school year.

What exactly IS Working Together Wednesday??? It was an idea I had to bring new bloggers, brands, and causes to my readers. It’s a very easy to answer, interview style post where I’ll send you questions to answer and then your answers along with pics you provide will be posted and promoted on my blog. It’s completely free, no obligations from you other than answering the questions.

Part of the reason I started this blog was to give back, to help, to contribute something to the community and to anyone who stops my my little blogging paradise. Working Together Wednesday is just one of those ways.

I have had so much fun getting to know some great causes, bloggers, and brands over the last few months, and I can’t wait to meet some new people. If you or someone you know has a blog, brand, or cause and would like to have it featured on Working Together Wednesday, please send an email to me at adventuresofbutmom@gmail.com with the subject Working Together Wednesday. I’ll send you over the list of 4 questions, and you can answer them in as much or as little detail as you’d like.

It has been a great run with this so far. Thanks so much to those who have already allowed me the honor of promoting your cause, blog or brand. Looking forward to a whole new meeting new people.

Working Together Wednesdays: Special Wundies

Working Together Wednesday Bloggers, Brands, and Causes

I can hardly believe it is already the 6th day of April. WOW this year is just chugging along. Anyway, I am excited to bring you, yet another Working Together Wednesday. The folks behind an amazing product for children with special needs, Special Wundies, are here today to tell a bit of their story and share the product with us. Take it away guys.

Special Wundies

  1. Give us a quick intro of you and your family.
  2. What is your business/blog.

My wife Carrie and I are the proud parents of our ten year boy Sam.  Unfortunately Sam suffered a stroke in utero leaving him severely disabled.  He does not walk, talk or swallow.  All things that most people take for granted.  Given that Sam does not swallow, he is fed via g-tube.  To help protect his g-tube, we keep Sam in onesies.  As he grew, my wife and I knew we had to find larger onesies that could not only keep his G-Tube from coming out or having him pull it out, but could also withstand his heavy therapeutic regimen and around the clock nursing care.

Finding the right onesie has never been easy. The onesies we found that fit his growing body were either too expensive, fell apart after only a few wears or were always out of stock when we needed to re-order. Our frustration reached a point where we decided that if we wanted the right onesie for Sam we would have to manufacture it ourselves. So the journey began and after two years of product development and field-testing came Special Wundies. Now your child can enjoy the same soft, comfortable and durable onesie Sam has grown to love.

3. What is your best piece of advice?

For many years I was told “G-d only gives you what you can handle”.  I really don’t believe that because G-d then must think most people can’t handle much.  However, I do believe that to raise a child with special needs takes a certain personality that is unrelenting in the face of “No”. “No, your son will never walk”, “No, your son won’t live until 10”, “No, your son will not smile”.  Here we are ten years later and Sam has started to walk and smiles all day.  It was not easy but we got here.  The No’s have turned to Yes’s.  Parents just have to keep pushing and creating opportunities.

Working Together Wednesday: Author Jennifer Anzin

Bring you New Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes

Happy Hump Day!!! Super excited to be sharing with you all today, on Working Together Wednesday, an Author, Jennifer Anzin, who writes amazing children’s books to help with Self-regulation and anti-bullying. I have read her books and they are amazing and truly worth looking into for sure. So without further ado, here we go…

1. Give us a quick intro of you and your family.

My name is Jennifer Anzin and I am a mother of two children: Aidan who is 14 years old and Sinead who is 20 years of age. My husband and I both work in social services. Professionally, I am an Early Childhood Consultant. I work with parents, teachers and other professionals in child care programs, nursery school programs and in transitions to school programs.  I work with children with special  needs: from speech/language issues, developmental and neurological issues to self-regulation issues and I also promote a variety of class-wide programs to promote cooperation, nurturing and anti-bullying in classrooms. (That is how this series of books came to be).

2. What is your business/blog?

Within my professional experiences, I found that incorporating practical strategies in books and games to teach self-regulation skills, anti-bullying skills and empathy were very successful and therefore I wanted to create books (including strategies and games) that parents, teachers and other professionals could use to build foundation skills in children. On my website: www.thewhisperersaga.com I have two free e-books: “Arthur the Angry Engine” and “Frederick the Fire Truck”.  But I also wanted to publish some additional books and hence: “The Anger Train”, “The Incredible Shrinking Bullying”, “Devon the Digger’s Difficult Day”, “The Terrible Tantrums of Timmy the Truck” and “Goodbye Anger Monster” were born. They are available on amazon, for variable prices, depending which country you live in.
3. What is your best piece of advice?

I think my best piece of advice, for myself as well as others, is to never give up. Even if you fail, keep trying and no matter how hard it may be sometimes, believe in yourself. (I think of this whenever I think of these books. Over the years, I have seen and heard stories of too many children who are bullied and too many children who struggle with self-regulation yet, for activities to help teach younger children were few and far between. I believe that if we start with the smallest of us, we can be the change.)

4. Where can we find you? (like an email, or your social media networks)

You can find me at childrenpreventbullying@thewhisperersaga.com. Thanks so much for listening and best wishes to everyone!

Thanks, Jennifer. These books are very easy for littles to understand and also really help to get through to any kids and help them to think about the topics of these books. Check them out for yourself.
