Working Together Wednesdays: H and P Artistry

Working Together Wednesdays-Winter edition

Welcome to another Awesome edition of Working Together Wednesdays, Bringing You New Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes.  I’m excited to bring you all a good friend of mine, Heather, from H and P Artistry.  So, Here we go 🙂

1. Give us a quick intro of you and your family.

My name is Heather and I am a mom to a teen, Sewist (I love that word way better than sewer), entrepreneur, and Blogger; as well as so many other things just like you.

I reside right outside the Beautiful and fast growing City of Nashville, TN. I’m a single mom raising a fantastic teenage daughter, and helping out with all of my nieces and nephews ranging from 3 months to 14 years. I love them all.

Me and the girls

2. What is your business/blog?
I Blog at The blog includes sewing, crafting, recipes, and more. I Also have an etsy shop where you can purchase embroidered towels, wine bags for your kitchen and whimsical children’s Aprons for your little ones.

I blog about life, crafting, cooking and sewing by sharing the tidbits of life that inspire each of my sewing/crafting tutorials. I love having the ability to share the tips, tricks, and projects as I learn them and complete them. I share the mistakes (because we all make them) and the fixes as we go on this adventure together. I started the blog as a way to keep up with my progress, to keep track of my projects, and help other people along the way.

The name H and P Artistry came from my Nana. She knew I wanted to use the blog to show my daughter that if you put in the time and effort you can make your dreams come true. So she decided on Heather and Paige Artistry and I shortened it to H and P Artistry.

“Sewing Mends The Soul” I found this quote by accident one day and realized it plays true for me. Once I started sewing I found my passion again. I worked in the corporate world for a long time and when the economy tanked was laid off. I moved from temp job to contract job and back again and just lost my confidence and my joy.  Sewing and blogging helped me find it again. And the tag line Crafting heals the soul and ignites a passion for life is born.

3. What is your best piece of advice?
Always tell the truth and be yourself. People know when you are faking it and if they catch you in a lie they will never trust you again.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

4. Where can we find you? (like an email, or your social media networks)

Blogger, Sewist, Writer and mom.
Social media handle:
@HandPArtistry on Twitter, Instagram and Periscope
Tag Line – Creativity Heals the Soul

Thanks Heather.  If you or someone you know has a blog, business, or brand and you would like to be featured on Working Together Wednesday, please send me an email.

Top 5 Tuesdays: Why I’m Thankful For My Blogging Community

Last week, the blogging community and a group of AMAZING Mommy bloggers lost an amazing friend.   Melissa,  from Wading Through Motherhood was young, healthy and her passing was completely unexpected,  She shared her heart in her blog, and put smiles on so many faces who read her blog and followed her.  This loss hit our group hard as everyone struggled to find a way to put their thoughts and emotions into words .  I am ever so thankful for the short amount of time I got to know Melissa and read and comment on her blog.  I am ALSO grateful to this amazing Mommy blogger group who have rallied together in support of each other as well as Melissa’s family in their time of loss.  On Today’s Top 5 Tuesdays I’m going to talk about 5 reasons I am So grateful to my mommy blogging group <3

1. Blogging Alone is Lonely.  I have been blogging for almost 3 years now in one site or another, but it wasn’t until recently I have found out just how awesome the blogging community can be.  The support and friendships I have made since joining this community are AMAZING.  I am so grateful to no longer be doing this alone.

2. They “get it”.  As a blogger in a world of non-bloggers, people don’t always understand.  I get met often with questions like “Don’t you value your children’s privacy?” or “So, you like get PAID for this, right?” or another of my favorite statements I’ve heard “It’s just weird to put your diary online for everyone to see”.  People just don’t always understand WHY I blog or WHAT I get from blogging, those in the blogging community do though.

3. I Love Learning About Other People. I love reading other blogs.  What is nice about bloggers is, MOST of them will reciprocate any support you show them.  This means that not only am I making friends and helping others, but it is help myself in the long run (friends help friends, right?) and because of this I consider the time spent an investment where I get to make deep meaningful connections with people and then we help each other further our blogs and make more money, reach more people, etc. It’s truly a Win-Win.

4. There is True Friendship in the Blogging Community.  We really do try to pull together when it counts, and be there for each other.  The friendships made are deep because as we read each others blogs, we learn so much about the people and their families, their desires, hopes, dreams, and who they are as individuals.  Then we have another bond because as I said before, the community just “gets it” and therefore we feel safe talking about this part of our lives that to many of us is a MAJOR part of our lives. The friendships are AMAZING.

5. It is Constantly Growing.  This is one of those parts that is very personal to me.  I have been blogging for almost 3 years, but it hasn’t been until recently that I have embraced where I truly think my blog was meant to go.  That being said, I had some opportunities to be involved with other bloggers in the past, and I made some connections, but not the deeper friendships I am making now.  I say all of this because some of the connections I have made, I find are running successful blogs, and I still feel so new.  However, even when I feel ridiculous asking a question I should already know, I am met with nothing short of Amazing support and answers and help in whatever I need.  It truly is amazing to be a part of such an amazing community.

So, there you have it, My Top 5 reasons I am Thankful for my blogging community.  Blogging is a piece of my heart and soul that makes me happy.  It is something I look forward to doing, and something I am so happy I get to do.  My blogging community makes it sooo much sweeter, thanks guys 🙂
