Working Together Wednesday: That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino

Happy Hump Day!!! Well I guess it’s almost over now, but it is still technically Wednesday for 3/4’s of the country 🙂

I’m super excited for you all to meet my friend Melissa DeMartino from That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino. So let’s jump right in, shall we???

Tell Us About Yourself.

My name is Melissa, most people call me Mel. I have two amazing boys and am married to my high school sweetheart. I am a full-time mom and business owner.

What is your business???

I have a public FB page called, That Legging Craze with Melissa DeMartino. I sell Legging Army leggings. Our leggings are super soft and extremely comfortable. They are boutique quality leggings at an affordable price point.

What is 1 lesson you have learned while in this business or cause?

I have only been with the company for a few short months. The biggest thing I have learned is that everyone is beautiful. Size is just a number!!! You can be comfy and confident at the same time. I love that I can help  a wide range of people feel confident while wearing leggings.

What is the best advice you have ever received while in this business or cause?

Sales aren’t going to happen in one day…sure you might make a few. But in order to make your business flourish you have to work it! Spend at least 20 mins a day doing something productive for your business.

What is your best advice on life in general?

The best advice I can give is to slow down!!! Life is always so fast paced that we often forget to slow down and appreciate the people and things that fill our lives. We don’t always have to feel so rushed. Slow down and see what you’ve been missing out on.

Let’s get social. Where can we find you on the net?

You can find me on FB at: That Legging Craze

Thank You, Melissa.

It’s Baaaack!!! Working Together Wednesday: Promote Your Brand, Business, Or Cause

Happy Hump Day, ladies and gents!!! Hope this week has been great so far. Exciting things are going on behind the scenes of AOBM and I’m excited. Starting next, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, we will be bringing back Working Together Wednesday. Let us promote you.

If you are unsure what Working Together Wednesday (WTW) is, let me explain it. Being a small business owner, I know how hard it is to move past your own warm and some luke-warm market. It can be daunting to get your name out there, and ABOM wants to help.

So, WHO exactly is WTW for, you may ask??? It is for anyone who has a blog, brand, business, or cause that is not nationally known. How is this determined??? Well, if you think you may NOT qualify, send me an email and I’ll look over it and see, but most everyone who isn’t a national chain will be good. 😉  If you you are in direct sales or network marketing, we want to hear your story here too. Are you a creative that makes and sells stuff??? Click the link and fill it out. I want 2017 to be the year of MORE for everyone. More exposure, more clients, more followers, more readers, more sales, more income. Let’s make this happen. Let us help promote you starting next week.

Here is the link to the form. Fill it out as completely as possible and I will be sending you and email confirming your spot with us.  Looking forward to working with you all in 2017.

Working Together Wednesday: Calling All Bloggers, Brands, and Causes

Working (2)

Calling all Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes:

It’s been a while since I’ve featured someone on Working Together Wednesday, and that seems to have been a very popular feature on the blog. I’m looking to start this back up and I’d love to have several weeks worth of these scheduled throughout the summer and beginning of the school year.

What exactly IS Working Together Wednesday??? It was an idea I had to bring new bloggers, brands, and causes to my readers. It’s a very easy to answer, interview style post where I’ll send you questions to answer and then your answers along with pics you provide will be posted and promoted on my blog. It’s completely free, no obligations from you other than answering the questions.

Part of the reason I started this blog was to give back, to help, to contribute something to the community and to anyone who stops my my little blogging paradise. Working Together Wednesday is just one of those ways.

I have had so much fun getting to know some great causes, bloggers, and brands over the last few months, and I can’t wait to meet some new people. If you or someone you know has a blog, brand, or cause and would like to have it featured on Working Together Wednesday, please send an email to me at adventuresofbutmom@gmail.com with the subject Working Together Wednesday. I’ll send you over the list of 4 questions, and you can answer them in as much or as little detail as you’d like.

It has been a great run with this so far. Thanks so much to those who have already allowed me the honor of promoting your cause, blog or brand. Looking forward to a whole new meeting new people.

Working Together Wednesdays: Making Time for Creativity

Bring you New Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes

It’s Wednesday again!!! Today, I have a bit of a different set up for you, on Working Together Wednesday. I was given the opportunity to preview The Busy Mom’s Guide to Creativity by Bev Feldman. So without further ado… Here we go!!!

Have you ever felt just completely and utterly stuck in a rut??? I think we all have at one time or another. I get in ruts for different areas in life. Sometimes it’s the “I need some new dinner ideas” sometimes it the “We need a new play area to go to” and sometimes it’s that my writing turns more into a job than anything fun or creative. I often talk about my blog as if it is my creative outlet, and a lot of the time it CAN be, there are those times when it just feels very forced (even when I’m passionate about a topic, it can feel confining at times).

At first, I felt guilty. I have the life of my dreams. I have a husband and 2 kids that adore me, and while we aren’t rich, we certainly don’t want for much. Why am I feeling like I need MORE??? Am I really THAT selfish of a person??? I am happy to say those feelings all came into perspective when I read Bev Feldman’s book. The Busy Mom’s Guide to Creativity. This book written by an amazing blogger and creative was just what I needed to get out of the creativity rut.

Great workbook to help you make time for creativity

I haven’t finished the entire book yet, as we have all been sick on and off at this house for the last 6 weeks or so, however, from the exercises I have done so far, I have realized 1 thing… I had it wrong. I kept telling myself that this blog was my creative outlet and that all my spare “creative” time should be spent poured into it. I didn’t realize that I have been working myself into the ground in the name of “self care”. I’d spend hours “working” on my creative outlet, all the while feeling like I was drowning and never realized, I need a different outlet as well.

It is wonderful when you can do what you love for a living, and it takes a lot of the “working” feeling out of it, but, there is a very REAL difference between doing something creative for YOURSELF, and doing something creative for your “job”. This brings me to my newest idea. Starting next month, I will be hosting another month long link-up, this time it will be centered around trying something new. I’m not a very crafty person, but I have always wanted to be. So I am choosing to experiment, keep trying creative ideas and hopefully find some things I enjoy that I can add to my list. I’ll be sharing my results each month with you all and then including a link up for you to share your new creative ideas with others.

Bev’s book has been a tremendous asset to me, and I’d encourage you to check it out for yourself. You can find it on Amazon in either Paperback or on Kindle.

How do you find time for creativity???

Working Together Wednesday: Meet Artist Imani

Bring you New Bloggers, Businesses, and Causes

Welcome to another amazing Working Together Wednesday.  Today I’m happy to introduce you all to a new friend of mine who is an amazing artist, and as inspiring woman.  Meet Imani, and learn all about her blog and business. Welcome Imani!!!

1. Give us a quick intro of you and your family.

Hi! I’m Imani a DC/ Japan-based tattoo artist/ illustrator and kawaii (cute) culture creative. Nice to meet you! ^^

Born and raised in DC, my family life has always been small. Carrying on with that tradition my household includes myself – a kawaii otaku, my beau – a graffiti artist & psychedelic art geek, and our cat Sir Mingus Maghillacutty III, Esq., Jr. – an artsy fartsy cat who likes to sit on our sketchbooks and hang out while we paint. 😸💗💕

2. What is your business/blog?

Welp. Please pardon my blog, I’m still getting the hang of what I want to focus on there. But my tagline is  tattoos/ art + Japanese culture = myKawaii so I share a lot of my work and art shows as they come together. I also blog about my kawaii creative lifestyle, adventures in Japan using my travel hashtag #dctojapan & building a kawaii community. My goal is to bring my kawaii culture to DC in a private tattoo studio & kawaii culture hub, Little INKPLAY Shop, so there’s lots of mentions of my #supportLIPS efforts.

Other do-dads there include things I find inspirational, in the land of creativity, personal entertainment, wise words, etc. … because sometimes we ALL need a pep talk or pick me up 😁and my shares from actively learning Japanese. 🙂
That’s for now, though. In the future I hope to share more from my amazing clients for some colorful Tattoo Tuesday shares. I think cool people should know cool people. So as I get better at blogging I hope to share a host of cool people that cool readers will hopefully want to connect with. They all seem to sit in my chair! 💃🏽
3. What is your best piece of advice?

I have two! They’re mantras I govern most of my life by as a creative, business woman/ entrepreneur, and (future) wife. They help me keep balance and strive for more so hopefully they’ll help someone else too~

“Lead with your heart and let logic follow!”
From one dreamer to another, it’s best for us to let go of fear and give the heart what it wants so long as it doesn’t bring harm to you (and anyone else, for that matter). Logic tends to show itself as long ad you’re true to … yourself! Just believe ~
“Don’t forget to paint your day bright!”
All of our days won’t be what we WANT them to be. Yes, they’ll be sucky ones. You know?! Those days when chasing dreams just knocks the wind out of you and you have to take a step back, recoup, and try it again. On those days, be reminded to take a moment to do something for ourselves (or someone else, even) that’ll help alleviate some stress, put a smile on your face & a fresh pep in your step. And hop back to it! ^^

4. Where can we find you? (like an email, or your social media networks)
Feel free to reach out! You know … let’s work together 👯✨
Thanks, Imani. We look forward to following your journey.

Give us a quick intro of you and your family.
My family consists of my husband Quinn, my son Teagan, me, and our four dogs, Daisy, Mysti, Abbey, and Baby Dash.
Working Together Wednesday SPD Blog & Children's Books
Angie’s Son
What is your business/blog?
My Blog is: Family Circus Acts
It is about being a person with Sensory Processing Disorder and raising a child with SPD.
I haven’t psoted very many posts yet but, I am sticking with it. I want to educate people that do not understand
SPD. I want to bring to their attention the negativity and judgments people harmfully assume about children with
SPD.
I recently became a consultant for Usborne Children’s Book’s. It turned out to be a lot more fun than I had anticipated.
I really enjoy sharing about the books and doing book parties. It is refreshing to realize that people are still into books and
want to have books in their children’s lives. We are educating our future.

What is your best piece of advice?
Stick with it!  Selling Usborne books started out slow. But pushing through, holding out, and learning as much as possible paid off.

Sales are starting to pick up. Adults are sharing their love by giving children books. If you are passionate about something follow through!

Where can we find you? (like an email, or your social media networks)
You can find me at Angie’s Usborne Children’s Books on Facebook
On my Usborne site y4506.myubam.com
Or my email is y4506usborne@yahoo.com
Thanks so much Angie.  Please visit the links above if you’d like to learn more about SPD or Usborne books.
